Bar Table

Residence, Monterrey, Mexico
One of 2 commissions

Designed by the celebrated Californian architect Wallace Cunningham, this bar table is as much a sculpture as a serving surface. Created for an avant garde cantilevered house, the elliptical table features a central void that casts a series of shadows and silhouettes as the sun passes overhead.

Crafted for strength from glass- reinforced plastic, nomex honeycomb, and a steel core, its tabletop is luxuriously finished in charcoal shagreen leather (traditionally used on Samurai sword handles) with a radiating starburst pattern, while the base is lacquered with graphite.

We collaborated with Formula 1 technicians to achieve the strong and rigid 'hull' like base.
