Collector’s watch winder box

Residence, Geneva, Switzerland

Commissioned by a private watch collector to house his Patek Philippe World-Time wristwatch, this winder box pays homage to the timepiece’s global theme and Art Deco styling. Constructed in Macassar ebony and Santos rosewood, each face of the box depicts a different continent with its longitude and latitude lines picked out in micro marquetry.

The watch winder box sits on a 23 carat gold base, and uses fingerprint recognition technology to glide open and reveal the watch inside.

It’s about meticulous attention to veneer scale, pattern and width of line that makes marquetry alive.
