Fabergé collector’s cabinet

Cheshire, United Kingdom

Designed by John Stefanidis and inspired by the client’s Russian ancestry, this marquetry cabinet houses a collection of miniature Carl Fabergé animals. The five faces are crafted from 1,990 pieces of veneer, decorated with patterns derived from the traditional parquetry floors of St. Petersburg.

In keeping with the conventions of 17th century furniture, we hand-polished the cabinet with traditional French polish, creating wonderful reflections and bringing a great depth of colour to the 24 different species of wood.

Nothing can quite prepare a person for when, suddenly, it becomes a living entity.
